Why is designing sites that are incompatible w/ antivirus software and browser security settings so

on the Web?

Every site I visit, I have to override or disable something so that the site will display.

That just doesn't seem very professional, to demand security sacrifices from an end user.

Web designers seem to be more enamored with Flash and various ActiveX controls than actual USERS are. Even today people still use images for navigation, with no backup text links (nevermind that hinders SEO).

How about designing sites that could function with everything turned off? That would be a helluva lot more impressive than the latest Flash trick you just learned and feel compelled to broadcast.

Why is designing sites that are incompatible w/ antivirus software and browser security settings so PERVASIVE?antivirus

Visit some better websites then :)

The website im working on as 'tech guy' at the moment has no nagging features. 99% of it works without javascript, images, flash, etc etc. There's even an option to disable the images while still preserving the layout. http://www.web-starters.net/

ActiveX is rubbish anyway....dont use IE for a start!
