How do I get rid of fake antivirus software and its "Security Toolbar 7.1"?

someone accidentally downloaded this while they were using my computer. I've deleted every file I can find attached to this so-called security; however, I can't get the toolbar off, and I can't get the icon off the bottom toolbar. This is soooo annoying and sneaky. They made it look like a windows error message, but it was some other company. How do I get this crapola off?
