You can online scan but your pc will not be protected in real time for viruses downloading. I recommend you get free AVG to protect you in the future it will scan files as you download them or attached to emails. Your choice so here are the 2 options for you.

You can't scan for viruses without antivirus software.
You could use another computer to scan it with, pending the computer has a scanner that will hold the weight of the computer.

I would start with taking the ENTIRE computer apart. Every piece.

Then scan each piece as most will fit on today's scanners. However keep in mind that the little pins on the motherboard etc will most likely scratch the screen glass on the scanner if you drag it off and onto the plater.

Be sure to scan both the top and bottoms of each peripheral, hd, floppy drive, cdrom etc for the best effect.

I wouldn't bother scanning your case or monitor however.
