Is it ok to have more than 1 antivirus software running at the same time on your PC?

I'm currently running McAfee 8.0, Avast, and Ad-Aware SE PRO at the same time.

Yes it is "safe" but you are really just slowing things down.

I suggest you dump McAfee and stick with Avast (smaller footprint, runs better) and turn off some of the features of Ad-Aware, to help your system run better.

In reality though if you are ok with the way your machine performs with all of them running, go for it.

Don't run McAfee and Avast at the same time, run one or the other, not both. Adaware SE is anti-spyware and will not conflict with anti-virus software but McAfee and Avast may conflict with each other. If I had to pick, I'd pick Avast, I don't care much for McAfee.
Most security experts will tell you that running multiple Anti-Virus programs is a bad idea. Not only will it slow you down a lot, but sometimes they will also detect each other as a virus and attempt removal.
well, in some cases having more then one virus protection program causes problems. Ad-aware is only a spyware program that helps you get rid of those types of files. not familiar with Avast but if this is the free version I don't see a problem. if you are not having problems right now don't worry about it but if you start having issues down the road i would remove avast and stay with mcafee. i hope that helps.
The best answer is NO.
