I was recently swarmed with a severe malware oriented virus that no matter how many spyware/antivirus oriented programs/software I bought like Norton Antivirus (which I was told for 80 bucks is crap) but I guess I went with the old adage I get what I pay for and then I bought Trend Micro (was also told by the best buy sales associate that it rivals NAV) but it still didn't help. So I pretty much stripped the 5 year old HP Pavilion desktop that I had back to factory settings, knock on wood the icons are ridiculously HUGE but its been 3days and I haven't had a whiff of pop up/spyware crap come my way (yet), though my Windows XP was restored to factory settings.
So what can I install on this system so I don't end up with another Vundo/malware oriented Trojan. I don't want to install my NAV Antisecuirty software pacakage b/c I was told it was crap %26 now I can't seem to trust the generic TrendMicro, so now what do I install so this computer combats any/all update troublesome viruses Thnx
