Computer CPU and email attachment issues?

Hi,

I'm trying to resolve an issue with my PC, I'm getting spikes in my CPU usage from 20-100% whenever I use IE, multiple windows open and the computer hangs, it's as though something is attached to IE that's increasing its CPU usage and I don't know what it could be.

In addition my emails (all of them) won't attach files from the computer. I've checked my firewall settings and they're fine for uploads of this kind but the upload takes ages (I think because of the previous issue). I've scanned my hard drive with 2 antivirus software packages and there are no obvious threats, does anyone have any ideas please?

Thanks

It certainly seems like your computer is infected with some type of malware. Although you've scanned your drives with a/v software, you should also use antispyware apps to detect and clean/remove any adware, spyware, and/or browser hi-jacking.

Before installing and running antispyware scans, and if you haven't done so already, run the a/v scans while in Safe Mode.

Here are some antispyware suggestions:

Ad-Aware 2007 - http://www.lavasoft.com/single/mirror_do...

Spybot S%26D - http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirro...

HijackThis - http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/progr...

Note: When using HijackThis, you will need to make appropriate selections from the log. There is a forum that is specific to this at the Spyware Warrior site - http://www.spywarewarrior.com/viewforum....
