Small doubts about virus?

1.why virus attacks only .exe files?

2.why virus modifies the existing file without deleting it which is easier?

3.virus is definitely a program, how does it execute automatically on its own,it may go to startup directory, but how?

4.deleting or modifying a file is easier in C, i mean an application can be developed easily such that on its execution the specified OS files be corrupted.Antivirus software wont say it is a virus. what additional features will a virus have?

Small doubts about virus?antivirus programs

1) It doesn't. Viruses can attach to dll files, doc files, etc... Basically, it can attach to any file accessed by the computer.

2) Some viruses do delete files. My guess as to why a lot only modify would be because it could be easier to hid from antivirus software.

3) To infect a computer, a virus must somehow be accessed. That's when the virus infects the computer, and supposedly starts up on it's own at a later date or immediately.

4) Viruses can lay dormant until a specified time to act. Viruses are programs that do damage. Viruses are usually associated with being malicious, but can just monitor activity on a computer.

Small doubts about virus?computer protection

You're welcome. Report It

1. The majority of viruses I've encountered attack through registry keys and rouge DLL's. Virus's that go through EXE's are most probably trojan programs that display false information whilst downloading more viruses and stuff onto your computer.

2. Wouldn't it be more easier to overwrite the file?

3. Registry and DLL's
