Go to the control panel in windows and use the add/remove programs function, I just uninstalled it from the computer I am on now, without any issues using this method.

I had the purchase and the free and played total hell trying to remove. Acted the same way Norton's security behaves, leaves fragments all over the place and unable to remove 100% from your pc.

Here is a free tool I found that removes even write protected dll's. Download this free software. No spyware, adware, or trojans. 100% clean.

When you download, save to documents and then tfr., to the desktop so that you have the icon on your desktop. As this is a stand alone software.

Open, then click on browse, and open c://program files, when open look for AVG, or Grisoft. Open either one and then open the icon for the program and it will be placed in Delete-Doctor. Click on delete after the next reboot.

After you open reboot, go to start, run, type in: c://program files, browse, to your program files, now you will be able to delete the entire file even if it is write protected.

Also search with avg, or grisoft. You may find other files that the scans shows doing the search for files. You will be able to delete all of them.

You're probably trying to remove it while it's still in operation in the background. Right click on the icon in your task bar, and select "Quit AVG Control Center". Once that's done, go to the control panel, Add/Remove Programs, and uninstall it.
