I use AVG Free which is very good. It's the only security I have on my computer %26 it's very good! I've not had any viruses get into my pc scine I downloaded it so it must be doing a good job.

Why don't you stop using Windows altogether? there are much better operating systems that are virus free out there ! ;)
There really is no 'best' solution. Each vendor has their share of strong and weak points. I would recommend researching the different vendors and their virus definition update times and other options, then decide.

EDIT: ....and NO operating system is 'virus-free' or immune to vulnerabilities...
Try kaspersky internet security ver 7.0 (newest) it is very good, provides 98% protection and occupy less memory as compare to NOD, one care by MS. I used it and love it. This is the only AV with hrly updates of Virus available.
There all pretty close these days for normal use, what makes one better than another is ease of use and how much of the PC's resources are used and price. If I was to recommend it would be Nod32.
