Antivirus for computer with less than 512 MB RAM?

I want to install a Norton AntiVirus software to replace another antivirus software. It requires that I remove the old software. How do I do that? Also, Norton requires a minimum of 512 MB RAM. I don't have that in my laptop. (I've actually upgraded it to 256 MB, which is the max for this laptop.) What should I do? Is there a Norton Antivirus for computers with less than 512 MB RAM. I bought my way back in 2000. I know it's "old", but I like this laptop. It's reliable, in perfect working order, and I don't want to turn it into landfill. Help.

I would stay away from Norton and go with AVG free. Before you install any new anti virus program uninstall the old one. This can be done by going to Start - Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs, finding the old program and then clicking on the Remove button. As soon as it has been remove install the new one. You can download AVG from http://free.grisoft.com/ be sure to click on the free version as there is also a version you have to pay for. And don't worry about using an old laptop, if it suit you, keep it.
